A walk in the pines

January 22, 2011

One foggy day last week we ran away

We put our hiking boots on

We drove to the mountains above Placerville to find the sun

In just an hours drive we were walking through a pine forest

Along the shore of a calm mountain lake, full from the winter storms

Blue sky and sun warming us on the cool winter day

Trail covered with soft, sweet-smelling pine needles

The reflection of the lake dancing on the trees near the shore

Birds singing, ducks laughing, geese honking

Toby, our dog, running free with a smile on his face

Crossing a wooden foot bridge over a babbling creek

Two kayakers gliding on the lake in the distance

What a great idea,  jumping in the car and running off

Escaping the city noise, the concrete, the clutter, the fog

For a walk in the pines …………

and finding a bit of paradise on a winter day
